In July 1994 Powderfinger released their debut album ‘Parables For Wooden Ears’. Produced by the late and legendary Australian producer Tony Cohen, who provides the expansive sound of the album; and recorded at Metropolis Studios in Melbourne in February of 1994 – it includes the singles ‘Tail’, ‘Save Your Skin’ and ‘Grave Concern’.

While the Powderfinger sound would subsequently evolve over subsequent albums and the band would go on to become one of the most-loved, critically-adored and highest-selling Australian artists of a generation – ‘Parables For Wooden Ears’ stands proud as an important phase in the development of their trademark sound. Now 30 years on, the album is again given its time in the spotlight, with a limited edition pressing on 180-gram vinyl (the first time available singularly available in this format). Mastered especially for vinyl, with only 1,994 individually hand-numbered copies made (in parallel with the year the album was recorded and released) at Suitcase Records in the bands home city of Brisbane – this edition of the album is presented in a beautiful gatefold sleeve, with full lyrics and pressed on ‘Saffron Yellow’ vinyl.
